PrimaLac Direct-Fed Microbial products are field-tested and proven to implant on the villi of an animal’s intestinal tract, making sure the probiotic doesn’t pass through the system. For large animals, it’s important for the microbial culture to implant and spread, to ensure the entire system benefits. These benefits include:
Field trials in cattle have shown a net profit of over $15 per head over non-PrimaLac fed cattle. Studies with swine show that health and growth performance of pigs was also enhanced.
In cattle and swine livestock, Lactobacillus acidophilus produces lactic acid and the enzyme amylase during its growth phase. Lactobacillus casei and Enterococcus faecium complement it, also producing those chemicals, but also enjoys a wide temperature and pH range. Both of these microorganisms create an acidic environment hostile to pathogenic bacteria. Bifidobacterium thermophilum is a delicate microorganism found in mother’s milk, as well as human and animal gastrointestinal tracts. Restoring this bacterium is helpful, as with most probiotic bacteria, because illness or antibiotic treatment can diminish its natural occurrence for an animal. These beneficial bacteria are guaranteed to occur in PrimaLac at a rate of: 1.0 x 108 C.F.U. per gram.
PrimaLac 454 Feed Grade carries microbial cultures in rice hulls and calcium carbonate. For livestock delivery, we often suggest 50lb. multiwall plastic interlined bags.
PrimaLac Water Soluble is a dry product for use in drinking water. It contains the live microbial cultures in a cornstarch and dextrose carrier. Water Soluble is also available in a variety of sizes and presentations. Find more details about these specifications here, or contact us.
